Boozy Beef Bourguignon recipe



  1. Marinate beef in half the brandy and half the red wine for at least 1 hour. turning occasionally.
  2. In large heavy frying pan heat half the butter until foamy.
  3. Mix together flour with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Roll beef cubes in flour, place in hot butter and brown, removing cubes once they are browned over.
  5. In a separate frying pan heat the remaining butter, then add onions and stir.
  6. Cover and simmer over a low heat for 3-4 minutes.
  7. Add the mushrooms and turn up heat a little and cook for 3 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat, add tomato paste, garlic and 1 tablespoon flour.
  9. Mix until smooth.
  10. Add remaining brandy, red wine, beef stock, bay leaf, thyme, salt + pepper to taste.
  11. Boil, reduce heat. simmer for 15 min, then add the beef and simmer for an hour.
